We are seeking the support of libraries and their friends groups to help spread the word about the Montana Book Award and to encourage authors, publishers, and members of the public to submit nominations to the committee. Eligible titles are to be set in Montana, deal with Montana themes or issues, or written, edited, or illustrated by a Montana author or artist. Books for all ages are considered for the award. Another critical need is for readers. Each year we seek to have up to ten people from across the state serve on the Award Committee. These people read and vote on the fully nominated titles. We need men and women with varied backgrounds, this is where patrons, students, directors and library staff members can participate Your financial support would also be welcome. Our annual budget is about $2,000, which covers the awards (commissioned and created each year), the ceremony, and promotion of the award. Our annual meeting to vote on the winning book and honor books is currently underwritten by Fact & Fiction in Missoula.
